Overheating problem with 1997 Cavalier…?

My wife & I have been having an overheating problem with our 1997 Cavalier. It makes a whining/whistling noise (almost like the power steering fluid is low). The power steering fluid was low and I filled it-no help. I changed the water pump and put a new thermostat in-no help. I put a new serpintine belt on-no help. The coolant level is fine. The new belt and thermostat were installed by a licensed auto mechanic and he couldn’t find anything else although it still makes the whining/whistling noise. What the %&*@ else could it be?? Please help-we cant afford to buy a new car till next year….
I removed the alternator and had it checked-its fine.

When putting in a thermostat, always warm up the car before re-filling or you can get an air bubble. This will cause overheating. You don’t have to ‘overheat’ your engine to mess it up, just driving it ‘hot’ can do that.

Maybe he doesn’t have an air bubble Daniel, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Why don’t you stick to your experiences and not comment about mine!!
