Autocad and its applications 2010. Frustrated, need help!!!?

Why are the exercises after chapter 3 so hard for me?!
I still have not grasped how to do certain things.

I do not properly know how to draw a diagonal… say a line 5 units long at 45 degree angle, let alone anything over 180 degrees beacuse they always tend to point in the wrong direction.

I am going to fail this class if i dont get these drawings done. and my instructor SUCKS. He teaches class for 30-45 minutes, then LEAVES! Class is for 2 hrs with a 2 Hr lab. Ever since class started , we’ve just been helping each other after he leaves class

You’ll just have to keep practicing. As you gain experience with Autocad, the angles will become more intuitive. What you could try is this:

Remember there are 360 degrees in a circle. Autocad defaults start with zero degrees to the right.

Draw a coordinate system on a piece of paper and keep it by your desk for reference. Again, zero degrees is to the right, 90 degrees is up, 180 degrees is to the left, 270 degrees is down and 360 degrees is back to zero.

It will also help include the typical 30, 45, and 60 degree increments in each quadrant as you work counter-clockwise from zero. Draw arrows on your coordinate system (like hands on a clock) at 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 135, 150, 180, 210, 225, 240, 270, 300, 315 and 330.

For example: Say you need a line 5 units longs at 30 degrees from horizontal to the left. Horizontal to the left is 180 degrees, and adding the desired 30 degrees gets you to 210 degrees. The command is “Line”, then select your starting point, then type in “@5<210".
