3D Studio Max System Requirements.

3D Studio Max, also known as 3ds Max, is a graphic design application by Autodesk. It has been used in the development of many games and movies in the 21st century and is considered to be an industry standard for 3D-computer-aided design. This program is not for your average computer user, however. With a price tag of over $3,000, this application is meant for large-scale businesses, organizations and individuals who are truly dedicated to the art of 3D graphic design.

32-Bit Version

A copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Premium or Ultimate is recommended for running the 3D Studio Max application; however, you can use it on a PC running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or higher. 3D Studio Max requires at least an Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64 or AMD Operton microprocessor. To run 3D Studio Max, you need 1GB of RAM, although 2GB is recommended. Likewise, 1GB of swap space on your hard drive is required, but 2GB yields better results.

The 64-bit version of 3D Studio Max requires a copy of Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 or Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit. An Intel EM64T, AMD Athlon 64 or higher, or an AMD Opteron microprocessor is required to run the application. For best results, you need 4GB of RAM, but you can operate 3D Studio Max with only 1GB. The rest of the system requirements for the 64-bit version match the 32-bit version.

Mac

You can also use 3D Max models on Intel-based Macs. Using either Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop 4.0 to configure a dual-OS partition, you can achieve full functionality from 3D Studio Max using a Mac, as long as the rest of the system requirements are met. This includes Mac OS X 10.5 or higher, a minimum of 2GB of RAM and a minimum of 40GB of hard drive space. The enormous amount of hard drive space is due to the extra Windows partition that’s needed to run 3D Studio Max on your Mac.
