What Are The System Requirements For Autocad 2011?

With another new release from Autodesk, it seems almost impossible to keep up with the Autocad guys. Yet, with this release there is not much in the way of sighing or worrying over finding a new computer to run it on, enabling you to replace only the software, rather than improving the computer’s specification.

You do need a good Microsoft operating system to run Autocad 2011. It needs to be relatively up to date, at least XP Home edition, to run Autocad 2011. Operating systems that can run the 2011 program include:

– Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional edition,

– Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Enterprise, Business or Ultimate; and

– Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Enterprise, Business or Ultimate.

You can also now run Autocad on Mac, which needs to run the minimum of the 4.1 Apple Mac Pro or later, the Mac Book 5.1 onwards, the iMac 8.1 or later , the Mac mini 3.1 onwards, the MacBook Air 2.1 or later; or MacBook 5.1 onwards. It is always best that you run the program on the most up to date OS you can, as the program will run better.

To run effectively on Windows Operating Systems, you will need for Vista and Windows 7, a good processor, such as Intel Pentium 4 or an Athlon (AMD) dual core processor with 3.0GHz of processing power minimum and the 2001 SSE2 technology, which is available with both types of processors. If your computer is a little older, such as the OS XP, the program still requires the same processor types and SSE2 technology, but demands only a lower GHz at 1.6 GHz and beyond.

Autocad requires that your Windows system has at least 2 GB of RAM free, 1.8 GB of disk space left free for the installation process, internet explorer downloaded (version 7.0 or later) and/or a DVD disc drive, so that the program can be installed via a disc or online.

It is also a further requirement to have a true colour display with a 1024×768 resolution, which will also need a true colour adapter (128mb+, 1280×1024 resolution) and a Direct3D capable workstation class graphics card with 128 MB or greater in order to visually run the program.
