Algae eaters?

Firstly I had a plec he was happy for six months, I went on holiday leaving a automatic feeder and the water quality impecable. WHen I came back the other fish were fine but he had dissapeared, I never found him, but understood he was dead.
I want to know why he died? he was healthy and happy.

I’ve never had the problem you have had. But sounds cruel! I’ve got two tanks up and running at the minute…
One of them is home to 2 adult sucking loaches, one pakistani, and the other a golden one. They get on really well with my other community fish, especially my angel fish and albino sharks. (which i was suprised at!) They are a really nice fish and do a fantastic job of keeping the tank clean. They are great to watch too. Mine are growing suprisingly fast aswell, and they do grow fairly big so you will need sufficient space to keep them.
In my other tank, I have two baby sucking loaches (one golden, one pakistani) which i’ve had since they were a week old, and they are growing fast… Also in that tank i have a shoal of 6 peppered cory cats. They are amazing fish, most say they’re ugly, but they’re fantastic to me. Their behaviour is amusing too.. when they want food they shoot up to the surface, and then straight back down. If you want a proper clean up crew, get two sucking loaches… But make sure you have them very young, because if they are adults, and have never met they will be very hostile, and will not get on. If you want a nice fish to look at, get a shoal of 6 peppered corys, don’t just get the one because they hate being on their lonesome! The cories will keep the bottom clean but unlike the sucking loaches they don’t do a good job of the glass on the sides of the aquarium!
As for feeding, I give my cories, and loaches one algae wafer every night, and that goes down well!
