What should I pay for a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am Gt?

I saw a car I like at the local family owned used car sales lot in my town. It is a silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT. It is fully loaded with leather, moon roof, spoiler, auto seats and windows, and hood scoops. It has 78,000 miles on it and could possibly come with a 3 month 3000 mile warranty. It was originally listed for 7100, but now they dropped the price to 6400.

What is a fair price to ask for this? What is it worth? Is it safe to buy GM cars now?

You can also look up it’s “private party” value, which is what you can expect to buy the car for, from another individual. Looking at this, you might decide to see what you can find on http://www.craigslist.org and save some money.

Buying a used GM car is as safe as ever. Used and aftermarket parts will be around to keep your car on the road for many years to come. As far as quality, you can do better than a Grand AM, but they aren’t too bad either. Common problem area is the intake manifold gaskets on the 3400 engines, but there are upgraded gaskets to prevent that from happening twice.
